Friday 6th March 2026 7pm: The Marching Band (En Fanfare)
Cert 15: strong language, Tickets £5

The Marching Band (En fanfare) is a delightful and deeply human French comedy-drama that explores identity, belonging and the redemptive power of music. Directed by Emmanuel Courcol and starring Benjamin Lavernhe and Pierre Lottin, the film follows Thibaut, an internationally renowned orchestra conductor whose life is upended when a sudden illness forces him to confront his own origins. A DNA test reveals that Thibaut was adopted — and that he has a younger biological brother, Jimmy, living in northern France in a small working-class town.
Jimmy works in a school cafeteria and plays trombone in the local marching band, a raucous but spirited ensemble full of character. Although their upbringings could not be more different, the brothers find their shared love of music drawing them together. Thibaut’s search for a bone marrow donor turns into something far more — a journey of reconnection, understanding and mutual discovery. When Jimmy’s band loses its conductor, Thibaut steps in to help, bringing his skill and passion to an ensemble that has never known classical finesse but has an irresistible heart.
Warm, funny and uplifting, The Marching Band blends humour with soul, celebrating community, family ties and the joy of making music together. Anchored by strong performances and rich musical moments — from marching-band brass to orchestral and jazz influences — it’s a feel-good film that resonates long after the final note.
As usual, bar, mulled wine, ice creams, teas and coffees at the start and at the interval.
See you there.
